What we keep, and why
Last updated October 27, 2026
Well is a feed of Scripture and short devotionals. We keep as little about you as we can to run it. We never sell your data, and Well has no ads.
What we store
- Your email. It is your account. You sign in with it and a six-digit code we email you; there is no password.
- Your subscription status. Whether you are in your free trial, subscribed, or cancelled, and when it renews or ends. Stripe tells us this, or Apple if you subscribed in the app.
- Your onboarding answers. How many hours a day you scroll and the topic you picked. They are saved with your checkout at Stripe so we can learn which cards help most.
- Sign-in records. We store only scrambled (hashed) copies of sign-in codes and session tokens, never the codes themselves. Codes expire after an hour; a sign-in lasts up to a year.
- Ad measurement details from your checkout: Meta’s browser identifiers (the
_fbpand_fbccookies, if present), your browser’s user agent, and the page you checked out from.
Cards you save in the app stay on your phone.
Payments
Stripe processes your payment. Your card details go to Stripe, never to us. Stripe’s privacy policy is at stripe.com/privacy.
Ad measurement (Meta)
We advertise on Facebook and Instagram. To learn whether those ads work, this site uses the Meta Pixel, which records visits to these pages, when you enter your email, start checkout, and start a trial. Our server also tells Meta (through its Conversions API) when a trial starts and when a first payment goes through, with a hashed copy of your email, your browser’s user agent and the Meta identifiers above. Meta uses this to measure and improve ads. Meta’s policy: facebook.com/privacy/policy.
Who else handles your data
- Cloudflare runs our website, servers and database, and sends our sign-in emails.
- Stripe handles payments and subscription emails such as receipts.
- Meta for ad measurement, as above.
Cookies and browser storage
If you sign in on the web, a well_session cookie keeps you signed in. The Meta Pixel sets _fbp and _fbc. While you go through the questions, your answers are kept in this browser tab so you don’t lose your place.
Cancel
Sign in at getwellapp.org/account and choose Manage or cancel; you can also change your card and see receipts there. If you subscribed in the iPhone app, Apple bills you: cancel in Settings → your name → Subscriptions.
Delete your account
In the app, open Account and choose Delete account. On the web, sign in at getwellapp.org/account and choose Delete my account. Or email support@getwellapp.org from your account’s address. When you delete your account:
- A web membership is cancelled at Stripe right away. You lose access then and won’t be charged again. Payments already made aren’t refunded automatically; email us with any refund question.
- An App Store subscription is billed by Apple, and we can’t cancel it. Cancel it in Settings → your name → Subscriptions, or Apple keeps charging you.
- We delete your account and email, your sign-in codes and sessions on every device, and your membership records, including the ad measurement details we stored with them.
- We keep two things, only as one-way scrambled (hashed) copies: your email, so the same email can’t start a second free week, and your Stripe and App Store subscription numbers, so a late message from Stripe or Apple can’t recreate your account. We can’t read your email back from it; we can only tell that an email typed at checkout has had a free week before.
- Others keep their own records. Stripe keeps payment records, including the details saved with your checkout, as the law requires. Apple keeps its App Store records. Meta keeps what it already received for ad measurement under its own policy.
Children
Well is for adults. We don’t knowingly collect information from children under 13.
Changes
If we change this policy, we’ll update this page and the date above.
